Folk Band


Group Description :
The Scarborough u3a Folk Band will be a group playing traditional music for fun and learning. Music will include jigs, reels, hornpipes etc from the British Isles with the focus being on English tunes. The group will have a maximum of ten members, and players of any suitable melody or rhythm instrument are welcome - acoustic instruments only and no absolute beginners please. Written music and chord charts will be provided and a basic ability to read music would be useful, but not essential. The group will be led by Jim Pearse who has experience of playing in ceilidh bands and in educational music settings. The group will meet fortnightly starting in mid-October 2026, with the dates and meeting times to be decided.
